Thursdays

Thursday is my favorite day around the house. Renato doesn't go to work until about 3 and returns home about 7. I really like those 4 hour work days :) It helps make up for the 12 hour days he does on Mondays and Wednesdays. Today we enjoyed homemade pizza for lunch. This is one of my favorite meals. So today we had one of my favorite meals on my favorite day :)

No more poo......

Shampoo that is. For the next two weeks I have committed to not washing my hair with any kind of shampoo or conditioner. Maybe if I write it on here it will help me get through it :) You may be wondering why. I had a friend who recently said she would be doing this so I decided to research this. I found that a lot of people don't use shampoo and instead use a baking soda/ water mixture. Shampoo forces are hair to create more oils than normal because the shampoo strips all the good oil away. According to most it takes about 2 weeks for your hair to stop over producing the oil and begin to look normal again. So if you see me at Walmart, Church, out for a stroll, you now know why I am looking a little bit greasy:) I washed my hair Friday morning and have not washed it since. I am including a picture of day two and will continue to update. Renato is going to join me ( he is hoping it will help with his dandruff). Here goes to no poo!

2 months already?

Yesterday Noah turned 2 months old. Today we went for his check-up. My little man now weighs 13 lbs 12 oz. That is almost 14 lbs....he has almost doubled his birth weight...way to go little guy :) He is in the 92 percentile for his weight and can not remember the rest.

Some things I've learned about Noah:
  • He is a happy little fellow who loves to smile and is starting to coo. He enjoys swinging and being snuggled with.
  • He is a cat napper in the mornings and a good napper in the afternoon.
  • He is slowly but surely learning the importance and goodness of a good nights sleep.
  • He thinks his big sister is funny until she won't get out of his face.
  • He sometimes looks puzzled as to why Lydia always wants to give him a "kissy".
Noah has added a lot of joy to the Mizutani homestead and we are so grateful for him.  Mommy has learned the importance of scheduling and flexibility. Those things would seem like they don't go together but they do at our house. I have started making schedules the night before for our next day. I want my days to be intentional with the kids and having a plan helps that. But I have quickly learned that sometimes things don't always go according to planned!!!!! Thanks for the lesson Noah!

A month in Review

Lydia in her skunk costume! Little stinker :)
Ponderosa Sunday...

Kaitlin's Birthday Party.

Trip to the zoo.

Lydia and her friend Olivia.

Things are good on the home front. Lots of exciting things have happened in October. It really is one of my favorite months of the year.

Some things I love about October:

  • My birthday :)

  • Cooler weather but not too cold

  • Changing of the leaves
  • Fall Break
  • Dressing up Lydia in ridiculous costumes

  • and this year our church's first annual Ponderosa Day.

We are continuing to eat healthy and it is really a lot of fun. We've given up soda completely unless we go out to eat. The only rule is Renato and I have to be together to drink it. I thought I would get headaches or something but not so much! Also continuing with our breakfast shakes....

milk, milk, and more milk!

Many of you have known the issues we've had with Lydia...she would not take a bottle or drink anything other than water out of her sippy. Since I will be out of town in a couple weeks I decided it was time to try and remedy that. She loves yogurt so I started mixing it with whole milk the other day. We started out small and she loved it. We are down to me nursing one time a day...woo hoo. My baby is growing up....
